Citizen Academy

Sheriff Sonny Weatherford is announcing the 5th annual “Sheriff’s Citizens Academy”.

The Sheriff’s Citizen Academy is a 10 week program where citizens will meet first hand with our Officers and learn the in and outs of the Sheriff’s Office and the Criminal Justice system. This training will open lines of communication between the community and the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff believes that this type of program gives the community a firsthand look at what rules, regulations and laws the Officers must operate within. The more knowledge and understanding one has of Law Enforcement, the better equipped they are to relate to what the Officer faces each day, and how it impacts the community at large. Some of the topics to be discussed in great detail will be the Jail, Animal Control, and Criminal investigations. Some of the hand on activities will also include working a mock crime scene with CID, firearm familiarization training and many more.

This program begins on January 23rd, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

Applications may be obtained by printing the link below, or by coming to the Sheriff’s Office.

All applications must be physically turned in by noon on January 18th, 2018

Classes are limited to 30 people, so apply soon.
