The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office employees are protected under Civil Service. In order to be considered for a position with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office one must first take and pass the Civil Service Exam.

With the exception of Correctional Officer positions we give our Civil Service Exam only once a year. Our next test will be in January  2019

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office is testing for the following positions:


School Crossing Guard : Responsible for traffic control in Beech school zone.
Qualifcations include, but are not limited to: 18 years or older, high school
diploma or accepted GED certifcate, citizen of the U.S., no arrest or
conviction for charges of force, violence, thef, dishonesty, gambling, liquor
or controlled substances; have an honorable discharge from armed forces
if applicable, have a good moral character and pass a background check;
pass a physical, psychological and a drug screen; and have a valid driver’s
license.
Applicants must be capable of monitoring traffic and safely guiding
pedestrians and vehicles through the school zone. Crossing guards must
be prepared to direct trafc using signs and or hand signals. Applicants
must be able to move and act quickly, and will be required to work in all
weather conditions.


This position will be 12 hours a week part time position during the school
year. Pay will be $15.53 per hour.
